The buyer plans to preserve the property
After sitting for almost a year on the market, the trailblazing Vanna Venturi house in Chestnut Hill has found a buyer.
Melanie Stecura of Kurfiss Sotheby's International Realty told Curbed Philly that they are past the contingency phase and that the settlement is scheduled for June 30.
As for the new owner of the iconic property, he prefers to remain anonymous, says Stecura.
"I can tell you that he is local and seems to be interested in continuing to preserve and maintain the property as the Hughes family has."
The Vanna Venturi house, designed by Philly architect Robert Venturi for his mother in 1964, has only had two owners in its history: Venturi's mother and the Hughes, another local family. It's considered the country's first post-modernism home and has named one of the 10 Homes that Changed America.
We'll find out the actual selling price in June, but the 3-bedroom, 2-bath home underwent its first price chop earlier this month, bringing it down to $1,500,000.
